Continuing along with my earlier post about live music, it seems fitting that my husband is getting into that scene more and more as a member of the band Deux Sons. The group originated as a duo with Spencer Ludwig and Matt Whipple and the name means two sounds. Now the group includes six members with the following instruments: accordion, viola, trumpet, guitar, drums and tuba . Their music has lots of energy to it and sounds like a cross between, French parlor music, Balkan folk and Dixieland. They call it “Gypsy Jazz.” I love their shows because there is always a diverse group of Hollywood hipsters in the audience and they are fascinated by the belly dancers that add another layer to the group! They’ve played at Hollywood hot spots like the Sayers Club, Three Clubs, Del Monte Speakeasy, Pour Voux and Silverlake Lounge. (Speaking of Silverlake Lounge, Third Wheel will be performing there for happy hour THIS Saturday night! Come join us – It should be a lot of fun AND a different type of venue than we typically play at).
