This weekend Pacific Symphony opened their 35th Anniversary Season with Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto! I’ve been lucky enough to work at Pacific Symphony’s box office for the past six and a half years – it has afforded me great opportunities for Third Wheel to perform at events such as opening weekend. The cocktail and dinner celebration was called “From Russia with Love.” We kicked off the night with Russian-themed chamber music on the patio at the Center Club, across from the beautiful Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts. It was a windy and mildly chilly Fall evening full of excitement and anticipation of the concert to follow!

There were beautiful table decorations and glasses set out to be poured…

And of course we had an opportunity to dress in our fanciest concert black for the evening.

It is always a lot of fun to play with Adrienne and Rebecca at these events and see everyone dressed in gorgeous gowns and furs. A lot of patrons said “Hello”  and complimented us on our good looks AND our playing, of course!

This weekend was also a farewell to the Symphony because I will no longer be working there part-time. I’m going to focus on teaching and performing. I’m very excited about the new possibilities that presents! On Friday night I went to the concert to enjoy the music and the hall from the audience, rather than the box office, and say a few farewells. I’m sure I’ll be back at many of the great shows this season. It’s the beginning of a new era and I’m feeling refreshed and ready.
